Our Capacity, Building and Innovation team is looking for an Education Coordinator to join them! Are you looking for a new challenge? You will be responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders working in and/or with the education sector and the community/region to support the successful implementation of the project(s)/program(s)! What will you be doing?
- Creating and implementing a regional implementation plan (including a regional sustainability plan and regional communications plan) and providing regional input to support the national business, communication, and web strategy plans.
- Working with elementary and secondary schools and engaging in provincial or school board discussions on youth initiatives to obtain participation in the program and recognition of student achievements, as well as recognition of teacher training for professional development.
- Working with post-secondary institutions to create bridging opportunities for youth in the program into post-secondary (dual credits, advanced standing, etc.)
- Creating and enhancing support provided to teachers (teacher professional development online and in person, online teacher community development, and development of a central online repository of teaching resources).
- Identifying and engaging industry and business associations for greater participation and partnership to assist schools, teachers and students; building relationships between educators and industry to heighten the support for systemic change and evaluating the extent to which partnership objectives have been achieved.
- Distributing information on the program utilizing various meeting venues with Provincial Ministry authorities, curriculum developers, education coordinators, superintendents, principals and teachers.
- Carrying out workshops/training and curriculum mapping in schools with educators along with regional education specialists.
- Facilitating events/workshops/training in schools (majority virtual but some in person) with students. Facilitating events/workshops/training for professional development days.
- Reviewing and distributing communications and marketing materials targeted at schools and students to ensure appropriate messaging for the region(s).
- Assisting in the creation of materials for school participation and school engagement activities.
- Exploring youth funding concepts in the region(s) to support program growth and sustainability.
- First point-of-contact for educators; organizing and running student and teacher learning days; building champions on the ground and overseeing regional youth ambassadors in select regions.
- Assisting in the creation and refresh of the curriculum standards and integration into schools in each province/region including curriculum crosswalk alignments between partner vendors, provincial curriculum and ICTC curriculum framework.
- Developing project and program evaluation plan and measurements for success, conducting client follow-up as part of evaluation and funder reporting.
- Ensuring a high standard of program performance by developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining quality assurance standards and risk mitigation for the program/project.
- Informing management of project progress and providing positioning statements of issues requiring management action.
- Ensuring close cooperation with program partners to ensure a consistently high level of service delivery.
- Coordinating with project staff (ICTC and non-ICTC) to ensure proper dissemination of accurate and centralized information to clients.
- Communicating and supporting the implementation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth and education programs in the region.
- Assists, where applicable, in designing and reviewing the program curriculum.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Do you have the following knowledge?
- Strong knowledge of and experience with the education sector, digital skills development for youth and teacher professional developments, including an understanding of issues, challenges and opportunities in the education industry and digital workforce.
- Proven track record of building positive relationships and working effectively in partnership with a broad range of individuals and organizations in order to further organizational objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload with conflicting priorities as well as work with a high degree of flexibility and fluidity.
What we are looking for!
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field and at least 5 years of Project Management experience in K-12 education initiatives.
- Experience working on government-funded and community-based projects relating to Indigenous Peoples.
- Technical knowledge of internet & web-based applications.
- Experience in promotion & marketing.
- Be plugged into new trends and developments across the industry and particularly within the client's sector. Understand what makes a good piece of marketing.
- Ability to apply knowledge to student learning, (middle school, secondary school, post-secondary), including needs assessment and knowledge transfer.
Additional Requirements:
As this role will have you working with individuals classified as "vulnerable", you will be required to complete a vulnerable sector check security clearance. You will also be required to abide by and or all educational institutions' COVID guidelines (which may require you to show proof of vaccination and/or wear a mask while on the grounds).
