Job SummaryAs the first university-based common law school in the nation, the Schulich School of Law offers a unique and enlightened approach to legal education. Diverse curriculum, leading specializations, and internationally recognized faculty provide exceptional opportunities in all facets of legal education. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Web and Digital Media Specialist is responsible for developing original content and suggesting creative ways to attract, engage, and inform stakeholders on various social media channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in working with the University's Web Content Management System to manage Schulich Law's faculty website.
- Serve as the faculty lead for Dalhousie's Web Renewal Project.
- Through the Web Content Management System, compile, build and distribute weekly e-newsletter to staff, faculty and students informing them of law school news and events.
- Continuously develop knowledge and expertise of current trends and industry best practices for social media and website management, and make recommendations to Schulich Law Institutes and units on how to best use web and social media to advance strategic priorities.
- Plan and execute a social media strategy in line with the Faculty and University's strategic directions, and manage social media channels on a daily basis, including writing posts, sourcing photos/video, creating graphics and engaging directly with key audiences.
- Serve as the in-house graphic design specialist for digital and print materials.
NoteOccasional evening and weekend work is required.

QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a related field such as Public Relations, Marketing or Communications, plus approximately three years' experience in a related role (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must have experience in writing for the web and regular website maintenance, and extensive knowledge and experience using a variety of social media platforms. Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills, for diverse audiences using an array of formats (web, mobile, formal reports, etc.). Strong interpersonal communications skills are vital to this role. High level of expertise using Content Management Systems is required and candidates must be well-versed in a wide variety of office and design software, including Canva, InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop. Knowledge of Google Analytics and AdWords is an asset, as is experience with video editing.
