Student Research Assistant (Summer) – Verschuren Centre

Location - Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

The Verschuren Centre was established to facilitate a transition to a green and circular economy through supporting innovative clean technology commercialization. The Centre has an established team of expertise in key areas in order to assist companies advance IP and accelerate uptake in manufacturing and primary production industries. Through the Centre's collaborative approach and cutting-edge pilot scale test facilities clients can develop their IP, while connecting with partners, markets and business development support to reach their market.

The Verschuren Centre is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled student research assistant to work on multiple research projects with a focus on industrial Agriculture

Qualifications and Eligibility:

- Currently Enrolled in B.Sc. in chemistry/biology or relevant science stream.

- Lab Experience

- Ability to work with various analytical instruments

- Demonstrate ability to work independently, responsibly, manage time efficiently and ability to multitask.

- Good communication skills and proficiency in presenting scientific results (written and orally).

- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office, statistical, data processing software(s).

- Previous research experience is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in laboratory methodologies and procedures development related to specific projects;

· Operate specialized equipment and instruments for internal and external projects;

· Data acquisition, analysis, rigorous documentation as well as prepare data for internal and external communications;

· Complete assigned tasks in a timely and organized manner, following reporting procedure to program manager;

· Maintain a clean and safe laboratory workstation;

· Assist with technical input on internal and external projects, and scoping new project engagement

· Observe and promote all lab and occupational health and safety practices in the laboratory environment; and

· Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables for SME's working with the VC.

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 weeks
