The Vineyard Worker will report to the Vineyard Manager and is responsible for performing regular routine tasks required to maintain and care for grape vines. He /she can work in all vineyard operations throughout the lifecycle of the vine; from spring pruning to fall harvest, as well as being able to follow all safety protocols including COVID health regulations.
Expected duties in the vineyard include but are not limited to the following:
-Cane Cutting, Canopy Management, Fruit Thinning, Harvesting and/or Sorting of Wine Grape,Hoeing, Leafing, Perimeter Maintenance, Mowing, Planting, Pruning, Root Removal, ShootTipping (hedging), Staking, Suckering, Training, Tying
-Requires to be double vaccinated and wear a mask when and where necessary only
-Other duties as may be directed by the Vineyard Manager
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Must be able to lift/move/carry up to 60 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
Must be able to work independently, with little or no supervision at times.
Must be available to work extended hours when needed.
Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Must be willing to be trained to safely and effectively operate various tools and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
-Education – High school education or equivalent
-Ability to follow directions
-Ability to use good judgment
-Ability to work well with others as a team member
-Knowledge in vineyard work
-Nova Scotia driver's license desired but not required
-Basic English skills desired but not required
